Author: Nancy K. Schlossberg

Nancy K. Schlossberg spent most of her career as a professor of counseling psychology.  She taught at Howard University, Wayne State, and 26 years at the University of Maryland, College Park.  She is the author of nine books. She is co-president of TransitionWorks, a consulting firm; professor emerita at the College of Education, University of Maryland, College Park; and served as president of the National Career Development Association. She has been honored for her work by the American Psychological Association and the American Counseling Association. She and her book, Retire Smart, Retire Happy, were the focus of a 90-minute PBS special, “Retire Smart, Retire Happy.” Her new book, Revitalizing Retirement, develops more fully the importance of paying attention to one’s psychological portfolio. Her second edition of Overwhelmed: Coping with Life’s Ups and Downs has been translated into Japanese and is used widely in training. Her latest book is Too Young to be Old: Love, Learn, Work, and Plan as You Age, American Psychological Association, 2017.
